Wear Resistance Comparison Research of High-Alloy Protective Coatings for Power Industry Prepared by Means of CMT Cladding

In this study, four protective coating materials: Inconel 718, 625, Alloy 33 and Stellite 6 were deposited on 16Mo3 steel tubes by means of CMT (Cold Metal Transfer), as an advanced version MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding method. the next step, surface was remelted TIG (Tungsten Inert SEM microstructure coatings–substrate has been reported, EDX-researched chemical composition coatings compared to nominal composition. The hardness distribution in cross-section performed, which revealed that among investigated coatings, layer is hardest, at about 500 HV0.2. Other materials such 718 represented a cladded zone 250 had lowest wear resistance dry sand/rubber wheel test, highest erosive blasting test. This proved existence different mechanisms two test methods used. only higher than substrate steel. abrasive tests all steel; however, approximately 5 times durability other (Inconel 33) coatings.
